Description

Note: This is a Tamheediyyah مستوى (Equivalent Level) crash course. The mode of instruction is English. The couse covers similar material to the standard Tamheediyyah (A1) course, however on completion, certificaiton is provided by the Mena Trust. The course can also count towards accelerating towards upper levels of the Tajweed programme.

Course Details

This course introduces students to the essentials of Arabic pronunciation and Qur’anic recitation (Tajweed). It covers the core principles of Tajweed, including the science of recitation, correct articulation and characteristics of the letters, and key rules such as Al-Istiʿadhah, Al-Basmalah, Tafkhim, and Tarqiq. The course is designed to build a strong base for accurate and confident Quran recitation and prepares students for progression to higher levels of study.

Sundays, 6pm – 8 pm
Additional sessions may be organised if required

Attendance Requirement:
Minimum 85% attendance

Students will be assessed through:

• Regular class tests
• Oral examinations
• Practical recitation assessments


Theory Exam (Oral)

Based on Al-Muneer Tajweed Syllabus 2021 (Pages 1–141)

• Introduction to the science of Tajwīd
• Al-Istiʿadhah and Al-Basmalah
• Articulation points and names of the letters
• Characteristics of the letters
• Rules of Tafkhīm and Tarqīq
• Special points relating to recitation pages
(Qur’an Pages 483–604, Al-Muneer Pages 338–347)


Memorisation Exam (Oral)

Memorisation of Juz’ 30 (the final chapter of the Qur’an)

Students aged 60 and above are exempt from the memorisation exam.


Tilāwah Exam (Practical)

Recitation of Qur’an Pages 483–604
From Surah Ash-Shūrā to the end of Surah An-Nās


Jazariyyah Poem

Required sections:
• Makharij al-Ḥuruf (Pages 84–85)
• Sifat al-Huruf (Pages 117–118)

Non-Arabic speakers and students aged 60 and above are not required to memorise these sections. They must, however, understand the meanings and explain selected verses during the examination.


Progression

Successful completion of Tamheediyyah is required to progress to the Mutawassitah (Intermediate) level.

Entry Requirements
1- Males aged 16 and above.
2- Memorised at least one Hezb of the Qur'an.
3- Able to read Arabic text at a basic level.
